2022 · Qualistage, Rio de Janeiro
Brazil’s first immersive orchestral concert. I performed live in a VR headset, drawing sculptures, creatures and landscapes as the orchestra played, and what I made appeared around the musicians through projection and augmented reality.
The programme ran from Villa-Lobos, Oscar Lorenzo Fernández, Ravel and Stravinsky to Grieg and arrangements of Pink Floyd, Metallica and Guns N’ Roses. Felipe Prazeres conducted, in person and as an avatar. Studio XR built the technology, and the whole thing was streamed in 360º.
Two minutes of the concert.
From the live stream.
Everything was made in the moment, standing up, with controllers. These are from the rehearsals: a world built while the music ran.
From a rehearsal, recorded inside the headset.
